David Potts defended veterinarian Jenny Bauman of Phoenix Veterinary Referral and Emergency in one of two complaints filed against her and fellow veterinarian Daniel Moezzi.
A dog was brought to their facility with suspected IMHA or internal bleeding, but despite assurances, ultrasound was unavailable at the referral and emergency center. The veterinarians eventually treated for suspected IMHA but withheld antithrombotic medication as they could not test for internal bleeding. The dog later died of what was suspected to be a stroke caused by a blood clot.
The family was also allegedly told they could not visit the dog in hospital. One of the family members, a person with special mental health needs, was said to be particularly bonded to the dog and could not understand what had happened.
David Potts defended veterinarians in about 0.2% of cases in our Tails of Woe.
